چکیده
Abstract This work introduced a novel numerical approach for modelling hydraulic fracturing processes. The Edinburgh bonded particle model was employed to establish the discrete element of rock samples, and it further coupled with computational fluid dynamics simulate fracturing. fracture propagation law taken into account under various principal stress differences confirm viability model. In addition, used investigate mechanism two-hole synchronous results indicate that arrangement spacing two holes will affect complexity fractures. difference becomes more prominent in direction increase difference.

Numerical Evaluation of Hydraulic Fracturing Pressure in a Two-Phase Porous Medium
Hydraulic fracturing is a phenomenon in which cracks propagate through the porous medium due to high pore fluid pressure. Hydraulic fracturing appears in different engineering disciplines either as a destructive phenomenon or as a useful technique. Modeling of this phenomenon in isothermal condition requires analysis of soil deformation, crack and pore fluid pressure interactions. In this paper...
متن کاملEnergy Analysis of Hydraulic Fracturing
In this paper, numerical simulations of circular boreholes under internal hydraulic pressure are carried out to investigate the energy transferred to the surrounding rock and the breakdown pressure. The simulations are conducted by using a micromechanical continuum damage model proposed by Golshani et al. (2006). The simulation results suggest that the borehole breakdown pressure and the energy...
متن کاملComplex Fluids and Hydraulic Fracturing.
Nearly 70 years old, hydraulic fracturing is a core technique for stimulating hydrocarbon production in a majority of oil and gas reservoirs. Complex fluids are implemented in nearly every step of the fracturing process, most significantly to generate and sustain fractures and transport and distribute proppant particles during and following fluid injection. An extremely wide range of complex fl...
متن کاملHydraulic fracturing not responsible for methane migration.
Although Osborn et al. (1) provided important geochemical measurements of dissolved methane in a portion of the Appalachian basin, their report does not fully appreciate the geologic history of this region and misrepresents potential risks of modern drilling and completion techniques used to develop shale-gas resources. The fear that hydraulic fracturing is responsible for methane migration fro...
